Being born with bi-colored eyes, Quen Tomo Santu finds life difficult to fit in amongst her people. She has a Nixan spirit, and this makes all animals fear her. Her brother, Rhoji, belongs to a herd clan, but she doesn't. The people in her village believe that she is cursed. Being in the oblivion of what she truly is, her Pahpi trains her and teaches her how to suppress the Nixan spirit within using still waters prayers. Her life takes a u-turn when she meets a mysterious stranger. Nevera steps into their town, and she claims ownership of Quen. This raises so many questions in Quen's heart, making her question her true identity, who she is, and what she possesses.

Natalie Wright is a wonderful writer. Her descriptions of the cities, especially Qülla, events, and scenarios in Season of the Dragon were top-notch. The book was not only engaging but also beautiful and vivid. The story was filled with magic, sorcery, dragons, and actions. I loved it! The author wrote about the unconditional love a father has for his daughter, regardless of what she is. It was refreshing to see how love gave her strength when she was weak.

I also loved the bond that existed between Rhoji and Quen as siblings; it reminds me of an adage by Abbey Slater that says, “I may fight with my siblings. But once you lay a finger on them, you’ll be facing me". Despite their quarrels and strife, Rhoji still cared for, protected, and loved Quen. Rhoji and Quen remained best and forever friends. Also, I saw how true love could exist without perfection. This was what Aldewin and Quen's love story represented. I wish every girl could have an Aldewin in their life who would sacrifice and fight for what he and Quen had. I enjoyed the romantic relationship the two young people shared. Also, Drunva, who was a great leader, had good leading qualities and was never judgemental.

In addition, the cover of this book was very appealing. The inclusion of maps in this book aided my understanding. I felt it was very thoughtful of the author. There was nothing to dislike about this book. There were no errors in this book; it was perfectly edited. I enjoyed the storyline. The writing style was perfect. Therefore, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The author "performed" magic by interlacing dragons, sorcery, adventure, love, friendship, mages, and family in this book.

I recommend this book to lovers of mystery and magical books. Wholeheartedly, I anticipate the next book in this series.

It’s very important to have that one person, isn’t it? Quen had one in her brother, Rhoji. He believed in her no matter what anyone else said. She also had her Paahpi, who tried to help her fit in.

An outcast protagonist in a world of magic is a classic of the fantasy genre that seems well developed in this novel together with some important themes. I'll look into this series. Thank you for your great review!
Ciao :)
