Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is an interesting science fiction book that displays life from a different perspective. The whole tussle in the land of princes, as stated in the book, can be traced to the decision of the Emperor of Lullabies to allot one of a small chain of islands on the mainland of his empire to each of his four sons. Within two years, as expected by the wicked emperor, his sons were locked in a civil war; hence, starvation and death became common occurrences in the land of princes.
Galen, a young boy born in the land of princes, grew unsatisfied with the excess suffering and death in the land of the princes and sought a way out. When the opportunity came, Galen escaped from the land of princes and traveled on a journey that lasted for about a week to Voulhire. Unknown to Galen, a great destiny awaited him in Voulhire. His uncle had left him an inheritance before his death. Galen met Rowan, the executor of his uncle's estate, who later became his companion. As life begins to unfold, Galen finds out more about himself and his new home.
There are so many disadvantages attached to wars; this was clearly expressed as the reason for the deaths and starvation in the land of princes. The book can therefore be regarded as inspirational; the author painted an image, using words, of both courage and determination. The author's sense of judgment was remarkable, as he avoided every form of partiality and was direct when referring to each character. The book was properly organized; each chapter gave an insight into the next. All these form the positive aspect of this book.
Aside from the fact that the book was not properly concluded, I did not notice any other negative aspects of this book. I hoped for another ending even after reading the last chapter of the book. The book contained no typographical or grammatical errors, indicating that it was exceptionally well edited. I would rate the book 5 out of 5 stars because the negative aspects I mentioned are not enough to rate the book less.
While reading this book, I imagined myself in Galen's situation, and I was able to understand the importance of taking necessary actions in times of crisis and not just being dormant. Hence, I would recommend this book to both leaders and those who are being led. Teenagers and young adults who wish to occupy any leadership position in the future would also find this book helpful. Fiction lovers would definitely enjoy reading this book as well.
