Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R. F. Kristi is a children's detective book. The book centers on a cat, Inca, and his company. Inca is a Siberian cat who loves to do detective work with his team. At the beginning of the book, Missy, their human mother, is a baker and is invited to South Korea as one of the judges in a cooking competition. She plans to use that medium to launch her newly made product. The animals all follow her to South Korea for the competition. On their way to South Korea, they encounter a rival who tries to steal Missy's new product, but with the help of the animals, he is stopped. On getting to South Korea, they meet Ye-jun, their tour guide, who takes them to his place, where they stay for the competition. Ye-jun stays with his dog, Baram. The animals find out that Baram is unhappy because he misses their cat. Ye-jun's sister is on the other side of Korea, together with their cat, which is North Korea, as there is a boundary preventing one from crossing over there. Inca and Company devise a means to rescue the cat. Will they succeed? Find out from the book.

I found myself admiring many aspects of this book. First, the storyline is captivating and intriguing at the same time. The author did a nice job writing this plot. The organization of the book is top-notch. Everything flowed in accordance, as one didn't need to trace back to understand a recent happening. The writing style of the book is nice too. It is written as a first-person narrative from the perspective of the Inca.

I also love the inclusion of bright pictures in the book. I must say, it illuminated the book and helped bring it to life. The language used is a very simple one, and the children can easily understand it. This book will teach the children a lot of good virtues, like being there for each other when they are in need and the importance of teamwork.

My only dislike about the book is the numerous characters it contains. It contained numerous characters with numerous names. Some children might find it quite difficult to stay on track. The book is exceptionally well-edited. I give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. My little dislike won't prevent me from giving it the above rating.

For the sake of easy understanding and accumulation, I recommend this book to children from the age of six to the age of 12.
