Review of Man Mission
[Following is a volunteer review of "Man Mission" by Eytan Uliel.]
Man Mission is a book that takes the reader on an exciting journey with four Australian men: Sam, Daniel, Alec, and the narrator, as they embark on an annual expedition around the world for fifteen years. Written by Eytan Uliel, it is a personal story that is both fascinating and inspiring, detailing the challenges, struggles, and joys of their journey.
The book is in three parts; each part is a bundle of missions; each mission has a new adventure, destination, and set of challenges. From New Zealand to South Africa, the group took part in a variety of challenging tasks such as hiking, cycling, and camping. It is engaging, very funny, and makes the reader feel like part of the journey.
What makes this book different is that the narrative alternates between travel stories and personal stories, which gives the book depth. Through the author's experiences, we gain insight into the struggles of balancing family and career, dealing with loss, keeping hope, and finding strength in friendship.
Uliel's writing style is genuine and easy to follow, and his descriptions are so vivid that the reader can't help but get lost in the details of the book. The inclusion of inspirational quotes at the beginning of each chapter and a summary of the vital statistics (the "injuries sustained" section of those vital statistics always made me laugh) of each mission at the end of each chapter are helpful additions. In addition, the inclusion of a map of each country visited helps the reader get a feel for the places explored.
Man Mission is not just a book about adventure; it is also a book about the beauty of different cultures and the people who make them unique. The book is filled with ups and downs, and the authors' honest descriptions of the upheavals they faced during their journey make this book stand out. As I flipped through the pages, I didn't notice any grammatical errors or typos.
