The civilization of the world is measured by its advancement in science and technology. The advent of technology has brought a rapid evolution of what we see today as the computer age, where robots and artificial intelligence were built to assist human beings. Terms of Service: Subject to Change Without Notice is a book written by Craig W. Stanfill that enumerates how artificial intelligence will soon spy on and control human activities. The right to privacy and decision-making by individuals will be impeded. This could be a modernized form of slavery, despite how enticing it may be. What do you think? Could this be achieved?

The focus of this storyline is Kim, a young professional who has spent the last five years living and working at the headquarters of an artificial intelligence company. She was supposed to be taken away from her mother at the age of four and given a mentor and neural implant to track, monitor, and direct her activities like other kids, but hers was delayed. Why should children be separated from their mothers at such an early age? What could have been the reason for her delay? Does the delay have any effect later in Kim's life? Kim suffers an emptiness within herself that she feels can't be filled, despite all her achievements, and she continually seeks freedom. Did she finally achieve the freedom she sought? Read this book to know more.

The story thread was succinctly presented in English in a beautiful and uplifting way that I also find appealing, making the entire thing appear more realistic and believable to the reader without using a lot of formal scientific jargon. This is what interests me the most. The story is engaging and thoughtful, full of curiosity and suspense. Another beautiful work of the author was how he grouped the nineteen chapters into three parts, with each chapter having a topic and a few pages, making it easy for the reader to easily flow. The theme of the book is modernized slavery, the importance of freedom, and the effect of AI on the human race in the near future.

This book is embroidered with numerous lessons, which makes it superb among other sci-fi novels. I discovered that this is still human slavery, just as it was back then, where the slaves have no freedom of their own, and everything they do is regulated and questioned. I also discovered that there could be cognitive impairment and no privacy to live, and I imagined how boring life will be and individuals coming down with depression and mental health challenges just like Kim, who had to binge herself so as to manage her anxiety and depressive state. I discovered that the shift began gradually with the advent of AI.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I was unable to find any flaws or negative features in it. This book is the best sci-fi book I've read, and I must applaud the author for a job well done. However, the book contains only one profane word, which the author repeatedly uses. I could not find any typos or grammatical errors in this book, making it exceptionally well-edited. As a result of the above reasons, I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars, despite the mildly profane word.

I recommend this book to everyone who is interested in learning more about the quick progress of society since the invention of technology and how it will affect people when AI takes over control of it. I also recommend that this sci-fi novel be made available to all schools and colleges so that they can be enlightened and not be ignorant of the near-futuristic civilization.
