deviantART Anyone?

Post by Cadeyrn »

Well, this topic is self-explanatory. Does anyone have a deviantART account for their writing? Mine is my homepage.

For those of you who don't know, deviantART is basically MySpace for people who make art in some way, or write, or are in photography... Just anything creative.

Hail, fellow nerd!

I've always considered getting a deviantart account, but I was never sure if it was a good idea to post work that can be so easily pirated in a public area like that. Or if anyone ever looks at the writing, everyone I know just goes for the graphic art postings. Care to elaborate on your experience with the site?

Well, your work can't be legally pirated because deviantART uses Creative Commons to copyright everything you submit under your name. So if someone stole your stuff, you could tell the law.

As far as everyone looking at graphic stuff, I will admit that the world is full of lazy people, as everyone knows, and those who just look at pictures for a second or two without posting a comment or adding it to their favorites vastly outweigh the people with the intention span to actually read something. So we long story writers aren't very popular there. But it's a big world too, and plenty of people will read your stuff and critique or comment it and stuff. Plus there are a lot of huge clubs for writers who critique each other and stuff. I can direct you to the only one I'm in that still seems to be alive.

That's great to know, I'll probably look into it. It's one of those things I've always meant to try.
