ARA Review by mikenbel of In It Together

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

5 out of 5 stars, for In It Together, for sure! Wow! I think there should be a study manual for the Eleven Suggestions for manifesting love. The one I definitely struggle with the most is being in the present. ...and to some degree love everything and everyone.

I really appreciate the perspective on "temptation". It is the battle of the two "yous": the ego you that wants the instant gratification, comfort, fix and the "higher" you that knows you are at war with your future self by giving in today and is trying to prevent that battle and the consequences that will arise from succumbing.

Over and over I thought of the "no-thingness"(shunyata in Indian philosophy) from which EVERYTHING springs, just like our consciousness - our true selves - from which all perspective and awareness springs. This book really makes you think, and it is particularly appealing because it doesn't matter what race, religion, ethnicity, or anything else that we are for that matter, to be applicable to anyone who dives into its pages and drinks from its fountain of wisdom.

The book is aptly titled because we really are in this together; we simply cannot and should not function as islands. Not one of us is immune to the challenges we all face that are presented in the pages of this book in such a down to earth and accessible manner.

We are all fighting some sort of battle (mostly self-hate to some degree which translates into lack of forgiveness - the pain of which we tend to turn outward and victimize others for it). This self hate and lack of forgiveness comes from the conditioning and judgement that we have grown up with, and the application of the wisdom in this book (and a potential study group for the eleven suggestions) is a positive step toward actively dismantling that conditioning. To achieve peace, stop fighting. I love you.
