Official Review: A Carlin Home Companion

Post by fernwehgypsey »

Kelly Carlin writes of growing up with the late comedian George Carlin and her mother, in A Carlin Home Companion. She grows up in a dysfunctional family, often mediating between her parents amidst their alcohol and cocaine binges. Kelly drops out of UCLA and becomes in an almost decade long abusive relationship. She finds the courage to leave and completes her degree, then becoming a writer and comedian in her own right. She follows in her father’s footsteps and learns to avoid the dysfunction of her parents, healing and remarrying. This is an enjoyable and extremely comedic read.
