Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz combines two thrilling stories into one. The author masterfully combines two genres, delivering a fresh approach to the classic fantasy novel. The thoughtful integration of science fiction elements sets the stage for a captivating and thought-provoking tale that will leave readers eagerly awaiting the next instalment in the We Are Voulhire series. The story revolves around the small but envious kingdom of Voulhire and is divided into two parts. The first part of the story focuses on the political, social, and economic events in Voulhire. In contrast, the second part focuses on a sudden turn that leads the protagonist into a magical world of adventure and mystery.
Throughout the novel, the reader travels through the fantasy kingdom of Voulhire. The sea around voulhire belongs to the Emperor of Lullabies, who gave it to his sons as a gift. This generous gift by the emperor is meant to divert his son's attention and save himself from the threat of being killed by his sons as they aspire to take the throne, and since then, the land of the princes has been in constant war against each other. The story focuses on Galen Bray, a young protagonist from the land of the princes, where chaos and war have reigned for twenty years under the rule of four princes who wish to gain total dominance. He embarks on his adventure to the flourishing kingdom of Voulhire to inherit his uncle's forge with help from his uncle's executor, Rowan.
What I like about this novel is the creativity behind the writing and how clearly the events are described. The author's attention to detail and weaving of the story are remarkable. He has created a believable and relatable world, and the characters' depth makes them feel authentic. The author also keeps the story engaging and the pacing steady throughout, making it a truly enjoyable read.
I dislike nothing about this novel. The way this book is written makes the reader feel as though they are out in Voulhire with Galen on his journey to learn the trade of a blacksmith. I find the book's vivid details, engaging story, and helpful map incredibly interesting as I follow Galen and Rowan on their journey.
Therefore, I rate this novel 5 out of 5 stars. I'm giving this novel five stars because I found no grammatical errors. It was written in simple English; it was not discriminatory towards any religion; and it was well-edited. Another thing I find very helpful about the book is the glossary at the back.
I recommend this book to readers who enjoy mystery, epic, and fantasy, as well as to readers who like adventure and science fiction. I will not suggest it to young readers because it contains violence. I recommend this book only to adults.
