I recently had the pleasure of reading We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz, and I must say it was an extraordinary and enjoyable book.

The story centers around Galen, a young man from the war-torn islands, who unexpectedly inherits his great uncle's estate in Voulhire. Galen aspires to follow in his great uncle's footsteps and become a blacksmith. Throughout the book, we witness Galen's inspiring journey of self-discovery, and I found myself wholeheartedly supporting him.

One aspect that stands out to me about the book is the seamless blending of realism and metaphysics by the author. The book effortlessly combines realistic portrayals of everyday life, political intrigues, and societal dynamics with philosophical contemplations on time, Caromentis, and Cosmos. Additionally, the book includes captivating tales of biomages and skilled warriors. I found it truly refreshing to encounter complex characters with thought-provoking ideas and behaviors.

However, I do have a minor concern regarding the depiction of female characters in the book. While Beth and Beverly were intriguing individuals, their roles felt somewhat limited, and their potential wasn't fully explored. Furthermore, the book leaves several unanswered questions, which left me wanting more. Nevertheless, I am curious to explore the other books in the series, in the hopes of encountering female protagonists and finding resolutions to these cliffhangers.

Moreover, I wholeheartedly recommend the fantasy novel We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies to readers who appreciate intricate characterizations and intellectually stimulating concepts. The book's meticulous editing and captivating writing style had a lasting impact on me, warranting a flawless 5 out of 5 stars rating. Particularly memorable were the grandeur and vivid imagery of the feast of human hands.

In conclusion, it is important to mention that sensitive readers should be aware of the book's inclusion of profanity, violence, and allusions to child abuse. Despite grappling with these challenging themes, the author has expertly crafted a complex and captivating kingdom of Voulhire that is certain to enthrall readers. Given the points I have raised, my rating remains justified.
