The Meaning In All Seasons

Post by ddorothy64 »

There is a sadness that goes along with Christmas.
A deep yearning for an unknowable loss.
Undefinable and yet so palpable
Tenuous rapture that escapes my cross.
Hungry, cold, broken, and crying
You have come to us in different forms
Throughout the year you reach through sobbing sighing
Begging for a morsel, a touch, a sip that warms.
One time a year is never enough to share;
Compassion and the Spirit of Christmas
Our mission is year-long to show we care
Deny thyself and give what you can.
I feel each heartache, each bruise, each tear.
Do as I can, when I run out of life to give
I will share your sorrow and help carry your fear.

Very moving. Nicely done.

This is a nice poem that reminds us all not to limit our kindness and compassion as a commodity of the season. It reminds me of Disney's short, The Match Girl.
