A Dream for Peace, written by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, is a memoir about the author's life events. In this autobiography, the author discusses his background, development, eagerness, and willingness to work for his country's independence and peace. There are 17 chapters and 644 pages in this autobiography. The author was born and raised during Algeria's French colonial era. Berrah experienced severe prejudice in his early years, and even in tertiary education, the harsh treatment persisted. His brilliance earned him a scholarship to study in France. He led anti-colonization demonstrations at his school. He organized a team of peers to defend the rights of those students who were subjected to these terrible conditions. Furthermore, he decided to pursue a career in medicine and was the first scientist to identify the reverse transcriptase enzyme.

The book improves the reader's understanding of these historical truths by offering insightful information on the consequences of colonialism and the misery experienced in Africa. In several passages, the author uses appealing imagery to clarify ideas that may have initially been ambiguous, showcasing his brilliant imagination. Each chapter's use of inspirational quotes gives the book an added layer of relevance and distinguishes it as something exceptional. He explained the significance and effect of diplomatic missions in fostering international harmony and peace. The book explained how a decision made by one nation could have a wide range of worldwide repercussions. He learned a few things about many nations during his travels.

There was nothing that I disliked about the book; it was well-organized and informative. Although I didn't connect with some sections of the book, it is difficult for readers to understand the book because it uses a lot of unfamiliar terminology that needs to be translated. Even though the author was from a nation that did not provide higher education, Dr. Berrah was able to complete all of his great tasks. It is incredibly motivating, in my opinion. Another aspect that I liked about the book is that it contained quotes.

There were no grammatical errors or mistakes in it. Therefore, it was exceptionally well edited. As a result, I am rating this book, A Dream for Peace, 5 out of 5 stars. I loved reading this book, as it touched on important topics. The author provided the readers with useful information. I learned a lot from this book.

I recommend this book to those willing to learn more about African history.
