Review of Circle of Innocents
Circle of Innocents by Stephen D. Curtis is a captivating supernatural novel that will undoubtedly appeal to believers in the otherworldly. Set against a backdrop of ancient forces and dark entities, the story follows five main characters: Joanne, Samantha, Chris, Andy, and Wayne. Each character brings a unique perspective to the narrative, resulting in an engaging and interconnected tale.
One of the standout aspects of the book is the depth and complexity of the characters. Joanne and Samantha, the mother-daughter duo, are portrayed with a strong bond and an unwavering determination to protect each other. Chris and Andy, the father and son, display a heartfelt connection that adds emotional depth to the story. Wayne, the loner with a troubled past, becomes a crucial piece as the pawn of evil thanks to his vulnerable state of mind. Curtis skillfully delves into the psychological aspects of his characters, making them relatable and easy to invest in.
The central conflict centers around the evil puppeteer, who seeks to unleash his malevolent forces upon the world. The families are brought together through a car accident, realizing that their lives are interconnected and that they share a great task: to protect each other from the puppeteer's nefarious plans. As they confront the dark forces and battle the puppeteer's minions, the protagonists rely on their own strengths as well as the assistance of divine powers. This juxtaposition between supernatural elements and human resilience adds an intriguing dynamic to the plot.
Curtis weaves a suspenseful and action-packed narrative, keeping readers on the edge of their seats throughout. The pacing is well-balanced, allowing for both thrilling confrontations and quieter moments of character development. The author's ability to build tension and create an eerie atmosphere adds to the overall immersive experience of the book.
While the story itself is highly engaging, it is important to note that it suffers from a lack of professional editing. Although it doesn't detract from the story's appeal, it does introduce some grammatical and structural errors that can occasionally disrupt the flow of the narrative. Despite this shortcoming, the strengths of the plot and characters ultimately outweigh these minor flaws.
In conclusion, Circle of Innocents is a compelling supernatural tale that will captivate readers who enjoy stories of good versus evil. Stephen D. Curtis presents a well-crafted narrative with memorable characters and a high-stakes battle against dark forces. Although the lack of professional editing is noticeable, it does not overshadow the book's overall appeal. If you are a fan of the supernatural genre and seek an exciting adventure, this book is worth exploring. There is nothing I dislike about this book, and I rate it 4 out of 5 stars, deducting a star for the lack of professional editing.
