Miracle From Ukraine by James Herbert Harrison tells the story of John and Irina. John is a middle-aged man from the United States who is attempting to meet a foreign woman. He wants to marry someone who has strong family ideals, and he has heard this is the way to go. Irina, a twenty-seven-year-old, is attempting to marry an American in order to leave the turmoil of her native land of Ukraine. John and Irina meet, and it seems to be love at first sight. However, a powerful and jealous man will stop at nothing to keep Irina from leaving. Will Irina be able to leave Ukraine? Is the age difference between the two too much? The answers lie in a copy of Miracle From Ukraine.

The blending of action and romance in this book was fantastic. Irina found herself caught up in a twisted game with a man who was known for preying upon women and not taking no for an answer. Through this struggle, she faced betrayal and found unexpected help. She also was afraid of telling her family about the age gap between her and John. These plot points worked to show the depth and strength of her character, and I enjoyed seeing how all the little details wove together.

This book also had a few reoccurrences that added another layer of intrigue. There was a man and a woman that, at seemingly random points, kept appearing and helping out John and Irina. The supposed pair always had a different name and job but appeared to have the same faces. This little subplot added a layer of mystery to the book.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. There was nothing I truly disliked about it. I only noticed a few errors; I believe that it was professionally edited. Those who are looking for a mix of action and romance will enjoy this book. If themes of true love, jealousy, and destiny are of interest, then you may enjoy this one. It is suitable for adults and teens as there is no explicit content or strong language. It is suspenseful and well worth the read!
