Nine Months by Tania Tomyn is a heartbreaking story of Wilbur, a doggy pup adopted by the author. This is a story of unconditional love, grit, pain, and heartbreak. Wilbur touched many lives and brought immense happiness to Tomyn and her husband. He was full of love, a born fighter with a spirit that could melt anyone’s heart. In this book, the author shares his story in the most heartwarming manner.

This book is a gem for dog lovers. Readers who have pets would easily relate to this book. I had a pet cat that died in an unfortunate accident. Reading Wilbur’s story brought back some poignant memories. I am sure readers who have had pets and had to see them in pain or have had to put them down for incurable diseases would feel the author’s pain.

I loved how passionately the author has written Wilbur’s story. She writes about him like one would write about a human baby. She animated Wilbur so wistfully that I kept feeling that I had met Wilbur. Reading about his struggles was very difficult. It broke my heart to read how Wilbur fought his illnesses bravely, with a heart full of love.

What I thought was missing in the book was the author’s personal struggles. She mentions in the introduction that she quit smoking, adopted more pups, moved eleven times, and owned three companies. But she does not write about these things at all. It made it difficult to understand her life and the perspectives that changed with Wilbur’s entry into her life. But it did not impact the overall feel of the story.

I would rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. It is a very quick read that can be completed in a few hours. The book is professionally edited. I did not come across any grammatical errors.

I recommend the book to readers who love having pets. Dog lovers would especially enjoy this story. Wilbur’s story will inspire readers to adopt pets and care for them like human babies. This is an uplifting tale that will bring a smile to readers’ faces.
