I had taken a break from reading with a few kiddos taking up most of my time the last decade or so. Getting back into books was exciting for a rusty book lover, but I was nervous I would pick a book I didn’t like, and my love of reading may not return. Two days later, I know I made a great first choice. I still have young kids at home, but I stayed up late reading both nights (gasp!) because this book kept me so enthralled. It isn’t your typical story, which is one of my favorite things about it. I was not able to predict what was going to happen next, and I enjoyed that immensely. I found a little bit of will they/won’t they, whose side am I on, is this going to be a happy ending for anyone… all rolled into this one book. Plus more, but I don’t want to give anything away. It drew me in quickly, and kept me hooked with some of the most beautifully worded descriptions I remember ever reading. This is very much one of those books where the author writes in such a way that you can easily visualize everything going on- all the amazing details included created a wonderful mental movie. As a grammar nerd, I was even impressed by the near flawless editing! I give this book 4 out of 5 stars because… actually, you know what? I don’t know why I’d take a whole point off. It isn’t my top favorite book, but it’s quite high on my list. And it relit my spark for reading above and beyond what I had hoped for with getting back into books. So that being said, I loved it enough to give it 5 out of 5 stars. I wish it was a series because I already miss reading it. Time to dive into this author…
