This is a delightful rendition of the Christmas story from the New Testament. Albert Detore simplifies the story of Mary, Joseph, and Jesus into a poem. The story starts with an angel visiting Mary to tell her about her blessing and ends with the death of Christ. This book is all one poem that is written in a simple yet poignant way. The drawings are bold and focused on what is going on in the poem.

Over the years, I have read many Christmas stories and plays, but I will remember this one for years. The rhymes and rhythm are engaging; the words are simple yet powerful. I enjoyed the story's quick pace, and the illustrations fit the tone and style of the work. I liked how the author handled the parts that can be hard to explain to the young. The acknowledgments page is fantastic. It says: Ordained by the Father. Dedicated to the Son. Inspired by the Holy Spirit.

I could not find anything to dislike in this book. The title, A CHRISTmas Story, with the word Christ in all caps at first, looked strange to me. However, it made sense when I thought about it for a minute. The story is about Christ and not some man in a red suit. Even though it mentions the crucifixion of Christ, it does so in a general manner by leaving out the details that some may wish to avoid with younger children.

I could not find a single mistake in the book. It was well-edited, and it shows. With the talented artistic work and delightful poetry, I had to give it 5 out of 5 stars.

This remarkable short work would be great for kids of all ages and for all adults as well. It is written so any denomination of Christianity will enjoy it.

The title is very fit to the narrative and I like that CHRIST was highlighted in the title, which is obvious that the story is about Him. I think kids would love read the basic stories in the Bible. Thanks for your excellent review, Leslie!
