Love & Stilettos by Evelyn Lindell is different from the regular romance story. The story revolved around the life of a young widow, Mia, who lost her husband in an accident and had to move in with her grandmother after selling everything. While attending service in the church, she bumped into her long-time friend, Mitch, who was engaged to another lady, Lacey. However, she couldn't shake off her feelings and yearning for him. Their paths came together again when her school program required her to interview someone from her past. Who was the best person to interview than Mitch, who visited her house every day for eleven years? They would have to find a way to deal with their attraction, considering that Mitch was already engaged to Lacey. Was that possible?

The book was an amazing one to read. It didn't come off as an everyday romance tale. It was filled with twists that no one would ever see coming, especially with the love triangle involving Mia, Mitch, and Lacey. Some things happened to them that I never saw coming. I wouldn't give further details to avoid spoiling the book.

I loved how the author used chapter transitions. The chapters were written so that each seamlessly transitioned into the next. No one would want to put down this book when they start reading.

The author used a combination of simple and complex sentences, making the book easy to read by any category of people. I love the author's use of words. The infusion of literary devices in the narration was beautiful. For instance, on Page 22, the author wrote: "Its petals feel like lotion-infused satin, and it smells like a fragrant breeze on a sunny day." Also, on Page 98, she wrote: "A slow river of candy apple red trickles out of Mitch's nose."

The book is exceptionally edited, and I recommend it to all lovers of unconventional romance stories. The book is also recommended to everyone dealing with life's complications and complexities, especially relationship-wise. I rate this book five out of five stars because I dislike nothing about it.

I don’t usually go for romances because of all the seem that is almost always involved. I don’t get the sense that this is the case with this novel. Maybe it would be one to try.
