ARA Review by Privilege M 2 of Jane Digby's Diary

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

Jane Digby's diary: To Begin ,Begin is a historical fiction, written by C.R Hurst. The novel tells us of an English aristocrat who lived in the 19th century and she was known for her unconventional life and scandalous love affairs. Her diary which covers the period from 1817 to 1832, provides a fascinating glimpse into the world of high society during the era.

The diary is a captivating read, as it not only recounts Jane's personal experiences but also insight into the cultural and social norms of the time. Jane writes candidly about her relationship with men. Through her diary we see how Jane navigates the complex social dynamics of her time, which often puts restrictions on women's behavior and choices.

One of the most striking aspects of the diary is Jane's adventurous spirit and her love for travel, immersing herself in the culture and lifestyle of each place. Another notable aspect of the diary is Jane's passion for art and literature. She was an avid reader and collector of books, her diary is peppered with references to works of Shakespeare, Byron and other literary giants of time.

Starting with the positives, Jane Digby's diary provides an intimate and detailed look into a life of a fascinating historical figure. Jane's writing style is engaging and vivid, making for an enjoyable and immersive reading experience. The diary offers a unique perspective on the role of women in the 19th century high society. Overall, Jane Digby's diary is a fascinating glimpse into the life of a remarkable woman who defied conventions of her time.

Ending with the negatives, The diary can be difficult to follow at times due to its fragmented nature. It jumps between different periods of Jane's life and can be disjointed in terms of chronology. Some readers may find Jane's behavior and choices morally questionable, particularly her affairs with married men and her disregard for societal conventions. Overall ,the diary is limited in terms of its scope ,as it only covers a relatively short period of Jane's life and does not provide a complete picture of her entire life story.

In closing, I rate this book 5 out of 5 regardless of its negatives in which I find less vexing. The book was a captivating read and I had trouble placing it down.
