Review of Inner Trek
In Mohan Ranga Rao's Inner Trek, the author takes readers on a thrilling expedition to the sacred Mount Kailash, delving into themes of betrayal, self-assurance, bravery, pilgrimage, fear, faith, and affection. Rao's narrative imparts reflections, wisdom, and interactions with fellow travellers and locals, offering readers an extraordinary perspective on life-changing possibilities in this unique adventure.
The story commences with the protagonist, Mohan Ranga Rao, facing a dangerous situation created by the powerful male leader, Jalli Jagadish, known for illegal activities such as land takeovers and building demolitions. He becomes Mohan Ranga Rao's primary opponent. Mohan's wife suggests they embark on a religious pilgrimage to protect themselves from evil, but he initially finds it uninteresting. However, as he researches the pilgrimage and explores scientific mysteries during it, his curiosity grows. Mohan embarks on a challenging trek amidst harsh conditions, leading to many intriguing encounters that reshape his perspective on religion and humble him. He develops a strong desire to connect with the divine.
Mohan's impressive problem-solving skills were truly captivating, drawing my admiration as he tackled various obstacles throughout the narrative. Additionally, Mamatha's character stood out for her portrayal of someone who faced challenges with unwavering enthusiasm and resilience, often turning to the power of prayer for guidance and strength. These characters added depth and relatability to the story, making it more engaging for readers. Moreover, the book's incorporation of pictures, its well-structured plot, and the inclusion of maps significantly enhanced the storytelling experience, providing readers with a more immersive and vivid understanding of the narrative's unfolding events and locations.
I didn't particularly enjoy anything about this book because it was educational, informative, and entertaining. However, I felt quite sad about the people who endured difficulties during the trek, as they might have had a better life if they hadn't attempted it. Nevertheless, I recommend this book to those who appreciate travelling and seeking out new experiences.
I gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars because of the author's exceptional talent for vividly describing events, times, and places. Their ability to create a clear and immersive experience for readers adds remarkable depth to the narrative, making readers feel like active participants in the story. The book was exceptionally well-edited and error-free.
