I rate the book Reconfiguration by E. Alan Fleischauer four stars. The definition of reconfigure is rearranging into an altered form. The author chose an appropriate title for the book. The book is a self-help genre based on financial well-being for retirement. This book was well organized in my opinion. Each chapter reflected an area to address and educate the reader to make personal decisions. The chapters were easy to read for someone who is not educated in finances or does not have much experience in finances. Usually dense, subject matters such as finances were lit with humor, which was refreshing and made the reading experience more enjoyable. Investment strategies were explained clearly and outlined. The jokes were funny in each chapter. There was one in each.

The author used himself as a personal example, as an educator, and shared his victories with the audience to ensure the readers' understanding of the subject matter. E. Alan Fleischauer knew his subject matter well, having a background in financial planning. The reader can tell that the author loves his job, which motivates the reader to progress through the book with interest. The author cares about his readers and his altruism for his audience shows. The author dives into any and every area that would need to be addressed and defines many investments that are sometimes unfamiliar to the general population. Considering the age of the audience, the author presents choices that empower the reader when making decisions.

Although I love the book, I would have liked to have read about other people's success stories with their investment strategies, particularly stories about women. Hence, more diversified examples of mistakes and success in investment planning would have been nice to see. In my opinion, financial planning is more male-dominated, which puts women at a less important margin. What successes did female examples experience when they did a, b, and c? This book needs to make women feel confident with planning.

Overall, I rate Reconfigurement highly, it is written with clarity and knowledge. Anyone can benefit from reading this book and improve their financial future with a more optimal life. E. Alan Fleischauer makes mature age seem like a time for opportunities not an end game for an exciting future.
