Reconfigurement is a handbook written by E. Alan Fleischauer that helps individuals plan for their retirement. Many people are often reluctant to consider the potential adverse situations and circumstances that may arise during retirement. However, in this book, the author encourages readers to contemplate all possible situations that could occur after retirement and to prepare in advance to handle any scenario effectively, thereby enabling them to lead an active and fulfilling life in retirement.

The author has structured the book into thirteen chapters, each dedicated to various topics, offering readers diverse plans and information to prepare for retirement. In the early chapters, the author imparts valuable information, such as how the retirement age is traditionally set at 65, which may not align with today’s realities due to the increased average lifespan. Furthermore, the author emphasizes the necessity and significance of reconfigurement and proactive planning in these initial chapters, supported by statistics, historical context, and illustrative examples.

In the subsequent chapters, the author guides readers on self-assessment, helping them determine their personality and job preferences, while also suggesting the possibility of engaging in part-time work during retirement. Furthermore, the author offers a wealth of advice and strategies for saving money and leading an active post-retirement life. Throughout these chapters, the author presents various financial plans, including mutual funds, insurance policies, and health aid policies, along with insights into the criteria required to access specific benefits and the different subtypes available within these aforementioned plans, all explained in thorough detail.

I thoroughly enjoy Reconfigurement. I commend the author for conducting comprehensive research and offering statistics for each plan suggested in the book. Additionally, I appreciate the author’s inclusion of website links to the sources of information, which can be invaluable for readers seeking further knowledge. The author’s writing style is engaging and laced with humor, further enhancing the reading experience.

There is nothing I dislike about the book. I couldn’t find any errors in the book. It’s professionally edited and truly exceptional. There is some minimal profanity present in the book.

I give the book 5 out of 5 stars because of the extensive information and the author’s detailed explanations. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to plan their retirement.
