Review of E M P Honeymoon
An electromagnetic pulse, in short form, is written as E M P. Presently, the world is facing possible threats (specifically terrorism) on various fronts, such as on space, cyber, maritime, nuclear, and countless others. It is said that 21st-century war will be fought digitally, as data is now considered the most precious asset. Security agencies and law enforcement personnel take every possible action against terrorist organizations.
E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is a book filled with suspense, mystery, thriller, action-packed, and adventurous occurrences. The fiction starts with Kelly calling Mike (her brother) in the US in an alarmed state. She and Tom (her husband), were in Honduras for their honeymoon. She has found something abnormal that may affect the whole of the US tragically. What will she do in such circumstances? Will she investigate the matter on her own, or include her husband and others in her plan to cause any damage to their counterpart? Let us find out by reading this book.
I will rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I liked the way the author explained the background of the characters before introducing them. Cynthia and Sky, from the Cyberwar book, are also mentioned. Hence I somehow connected to this book as its second part. Scientific phenomena such as electromagnetic pulses and their impact, what if the power goes out indefinitely, and the impact of solar flares on Earth are explained in a detailed manner. The author has also provided references from where she has taken the data. A few chapters from Cyberwar have also been cited.
I think this book is professionally edited. The use of idioms, simple word choices, text format, and sub-headlines present in the context made it enjoyable for me to read it in one go. I could not find any reason to deduct any points. The author has also clarified why the story ended abruptly. The flaws have been addressed at the end of the chapter. Extra information regarding solar flares, and lower Earth orbit has also been mentioned.
I found several instances of profane remarks by different characters. The text contains slight romantic involvement but no sexual intimacy is mentioned in a detailed manner.
I will recommend this book to adults, not children below a certain age as some profane words have been used. As the narrative reflects reality and includes certain elements that may have an influence, adults are the ones who must be reading it.
