Benjamin Poe's four-year confinement in maximum security unfolded amidst damning evidence: a revolver in his hands, stained with his son Gabriel's blood. Despite this, Poe vehemently maintained his innocence. The turning point came with a visit from his counselor, Beaudoin, who coaxed the story out of Poe. The narrative centered on a tragic fire at the College Inn, where Poe, a dedicated firefighter, braved the flames to save lives, including that of his son, who was working at the inn. Gabriel's subsequent confession to three deaths cast doubt on the fire's origin, leading Poe to wrestle with the complexities of loyalty and morality. Poe, well aware of his son's checkered past, opted to shield him from the authorities, setting the stage for an intriguing encounter with Crighton, a demon assigned to take away wicked sons into hell.

In Soul Seeker by Kaylin McFarren, the narrative takes a riveting turn as it introduces Crighton, a demon bestowed with the ominous task of capturing the souls of the wicked, assigned by Lucifer himself. The book unfolds in two parts, skillfully weaving together Poe's story with Crighton's otherworldly encounters. Themes of Lucifer, demons, and angels are masterfully explored, offering readers a glimpse into the challenges faced by these otherworldly beings. The author's creativity shines through, particularly in the portrayal of Lucifer's disciplinary measures for Crighton's missteps, adding a layer of complexity to the storyline.

The tale not only delves into the supernatural but also delves into the intricacies of motherly love, as Acadia's unwavering devotion prompts her to uncover her son's true nature. Furthermore, Lilith's sacrifice to escape her demonic existence adds a poignant touch to the narrative. The book is a compelling read for fiction enthusiasts, especially those drawn to the allure of crime and the enigmatic underworld. I have nothing to dislike in the book. Despite its demonic and supernatural theme, the story explores the dark world in a thrilling manner and maintains a universal appeal, transcending religious affiliations. I will, therefore, rate the book 5 out of 5 stars.

The author's prowess is evident in the seamless storytelling, with the book professionally edited to ensure a polished reading experience. While a few minor typos are present, they do little to detract from the overall quality of the narrative, which successfully merges the realms of the supernatural and human experience.
