Review of Never Let a Good Disaster Go to Waste
Never Let a Good Disaster Go to Waste by Kat Finnerty recounts Kat's life and the times when she had to summon all her strength to overcome the challenges she faced. The book begins on Kat's 40th birthday while she is in the hospital for an operation. Her phone beeps and a message from her daughter informs her that her best friend slept over in her bed! That was the first of many disasters to come because she soon discovered her so-called friend was having an affair with her husband, Trevor. It got Kat thinking about her marriage. How she first met Trevor, their dating life, marriage, having kids, and most importantly, how they met Tahlia. Kat also shared her childhood in the book and what it was like to be raised by a strict father after her mother sadly passed away from cancer. Kat's early years were filled with amusing memories since she was a naughty child, and her father would sometimes say that she was the child he should have drowned at birth. Grab a copy to learn how Kat dealt with her life's disasters and how everything turned out.
Despite being nonfiction, the tension created in this book was remarkable. As I read the book, I imagined how Kat must have felt during this turbulent period in her life, when everything seemed to be conspiring against her. Kat had no choice but to pick herself up from a broken marriage, make the best decisions for herself and her children, and, as she would later learn, earn enough money to support her children's education because, in addition to having left, her husband had taken money from their mortgage account and was withholding his financial support for the education of their two boys. Furthermore, she was battling multiple sclerosis, and I was inspired by how she managed to remain hopeful while fighting each of these battles. Kat is a true fighter, and the life lessons and experiences she shares in this book will benefit many people. Even though it seemed like everything was against her, I never once saw her ask, "Why me?" I also liked how Kat expressed her emotions in the book. I could feel her anguish and despair when she discovered that not only was her husband having an affair, but some of their friends and family were aware of it and were even pleased to see Trevor and Tahlia happy.
There is nothing I disliked about this book. It is perfect as it is. I enjoyed reading about Kat's life and her adventures as a young, cheeky child growing up to become a brave woman. The book is full of meaningful lessons, and I learned from Kat's experiences that in life, you just have to keep moving forward, looking for hope in all situations, and doing your best. I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. The book was exceptionally edited; there were no grammatical errors that I could find. I highly recommend this book for those who enjoy autobiographies.

Discharging herself from the hospital bed after that call from her daughter was not enough. She needed to get home and fast. According to This joyous call ,Tahlia her friend had slept the night and dad slept on the couch . This screams all kinds of red flags to Kat as she makes her way home. Her husband has stepped out but has forgotten his phone. Luck I tell you. Going through it she becomes lightheaded. She witnessed conversations of her husband with Tahlia so explicit it's been going on way too long . To her other surprise, his family knew and were happy for them new couple.
A fourteen year old marriage blowing up in your face is by far the last thing any woman would expect . Her decision to process this and be heartbroken for only twelve hours is insanity but it can be done. The husband comes back home only to let her know that he is leaving her for Tahlia and they are soon to move away. Hectic .What happens next is a mess I don't think I would be able to manage but reading the book will enlighten you.
This is a well-written memoir. She was able to separate her emotions while writing . Her anger is no where to be detected between the pages. The editing skills were amazing as well as her light hearted and optimistic tone.
I do not like how she handles everything. Who processes a heartbreak in twelve hours after a fourteen year old marriage? Her naive and good Samaritan like character is truly her greatest downfall. For someone who has been through a lot she surely knows how to wine and dine with people that stabbed her in the back. This made me livid and annoyed enough to not feel sorry for her.
A 3 out of 5 in rating. A great effort was done in compiling the book and thought was given to every chapter. The characters were few and solid and her introduction to the plot was detailed. Her tone was consistent throughout the book and that was amazing.
