We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a sci-fi and fantasy novel. It is also the introductory novel for the Voulhire series.

This political fantasy is set in the fictitious nation of Voulhire. This novel starts the journey of Galen Bray, who was sent by his deceased uncle, to the magical land of Voulhire. The humbled Galen is eager to start a new life and show his thanks to his new homeland, but he will soon discover that Voulhire is rife with troubles that lie deep beneath its perfect surface. Each chapter slowly brings the story to light as Lord Eldus Alderman takes over the small fishing town of Hillport in the very same office as the feared Meldorath and Lord Orlin.

Matthew Tysz presents a complex plot with robust storytelling. The plot was well thought-out, reeking with innovativeness and extreme dedication on the author's part. It seems like Tysz took features and characteristics from your usual fantasy novel and rebranded it to make it his own. Tysz created new worlds and characters that are so well developed that they are complexly easy to believe, it is truly commendable.

This scintillating book is filled with epic fantasy in its undertones of magic, science, mystery and history that creates an air of suspense for its readers. The book lacks not in a single area, as almost every chapter introduces a new setting which in my opinion kept things interesting even though it confused me at times. I think that besides the authors' ability to create a world that drew me in, it was my curiosity to figure out what would happen next that kept me enticed. To say this book was an exciting read would be an understatement.

The editors did an exceptional job as I did not find a single error in this book. I definitely recommend this book and the rest of the books that follow in this series because the cliffhanger that the first book ends on just burns the need to know what happens next.

I rate this novel a five out of five stars.
