Dorothy May Mercer's E M P Honeymoon is more than just a honeymoon gone wrong; it's a pulse-pounding thriller that combines romance, suspense, and the chilling threat of international terrorism. This action-packed adventure follows newlyweds Kelly and Tom as their idyllic tropical vacation takes a dramatic turn, thrusting them into a desperate fight against a devastating plot targeting North America. The story unfolds as Kelly stumbles upon a seemingly innocuous pigsty shop while exploring during her solo excursion. Curiosity leads her to uncover a hidden room, not filled with porcelain figurines but with ominous computer equipment. This jarring discovery throws Kelly into the heart of a terrorist conspiracy, placing her in immediate danger. Her frantic escape and cryptic message to her brother, Senator Mike, set the stage for a race against time. Mike, sensing the gravity of the situation, alerts the CIA to Kelly's predicament. A dedicated task force springs into action, determined to thwart the impending electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack aimed at crippling North America's infrastructure. Meanwhile, Kelly and Tom, navigating the unfamiliar terrain of espionage and betrayal, find themselves embroiled in a deadly game of cat and mouse with the terrorists.

The author's ability to make the difficult topics of EMP accessible to readers is admirable. The author carefully incorporates explanations and details that help readers understand the significance and repercussions of this type of attack. I like that it was one of the first explanations the author made in order to let the reader know what they were diving into. This instructional aspect improves the reading experience, making the novel both enjoyable and informative. The setting's details deepen the plot, making it feel authentic and immersive. Readers may quickly visualise the surroundings and scenarios, increasing their engagement with the story.

Finally, the book's pacing and action are strong points. The author maintains a captivating rhythm throughout the novel, alternating between periods of tension and suspense and quieter, more introspective scenes. This dynamic pacing keeps readers involved and committed to the events as they unfold, ensuring that the novel never seems stagnant or rushed. I love how the plot came to an end. The book is easy to read, and it contains no grammatical errors. It was indeed exceptionally well edited. There is nothing I dislike about this book. I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to readers who like thrillers and crime fiction.
