My Trip To Adele by A.I.Alyaseer and R.I.Alyaseer is a story focusing on three different characters who are all planning a trip to the same Adele concert in Verona. The book is told from the point of view of Nadia, Elias and Yaser. Nadia is a divorced parent from Jordan who is fiercely independent, Yaser is a surgeon living in Las Vegas trying to save his stale marriage and Elias is visiting Morocco attempting to find an old flame from his past.

There are many issues covered in this book such as marriage, love, family and faith. The style of the book encourages the reader to put themselves in the character’s shoes. The reader gets to see what each character is thinking as lots of the book involves the character asking questions of themselves. This style of writing may not suit everyone but I liked it as it was thought provoking and encouraged me to think about my own morals.

I really enjoyed the concept of this book. The idea of different characters from different backgrounds all wishing to make a journey to attend a concert that is important to them is a nice idea for a story. Each character has their own personal reasons for wanting to make the trip and each encounters obstacles along the way. Music is very special to me and I liked reading about what Adele’s music meant to the characters.

I also liked that the book included a driven and determined female character. Nadia was my favourite character as I admired her principles. I liked reading about the love she felt for her son and her refusal to be controlled by the men in her life. I enjoyed how she justified her actions and she seemed the most realistic character to me.

The book has a heavy religious undertone. Faith and religion is a theme throughout and this is featured even more towards the end of the book. I am not a fan of religion being used as a key theme in books so this detracted from my enjoyment of the story. I found the book went from being pleasantly thought provoking to questioning religion. Whilst I don’t mind reading and thinking about morals and human behaviour, I do not enjoy reading about religious debates.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I can’t rate it higher because it focused too much on religion for my taste. It deserves a good rating though as I really think the concept is an inspired idea and the characters make you think about your relationships with people in today's modern world. This book would appeal to many. Besides those who enjoy Adele's music, I would also recommend this book to those who enjoy reading about women who can stand up for themselves. If you are looking for a book to make you reflect on life and relationships then I encourage you to try this.

A good and honest review. I reviewed this book recently and the religious theme in this book really was a positive in my eyes but I know we all have different views so it's good that you were honest.

Thank you for your kind words on my review. Different people enjoy different things. I was happy with the religious theme for most of the part but it started to become more like a lecture in the end.

I totally understand what you mean. There was one particular scene in Nadia's story that seemed like the authors wanted to drive home the message of faith with a low-key lecture that didnt really fit.
