MY TRIP TO ADELE.
By A.I.Alyaseer, R.I.Alyaseer.
A realistic view into the lives of three different people, from very different backgrounds, brought together by the struggles of love; finding love, being in love, staying in love. It also brings out different culture backgrounds and upbringings and how different cultures affect our lives in various ways. But despite all of this, they all come together in one common ground of music. How does Adele’s music impact all of these people in very different life situations? How do they all come together just for the sake of the music?
Nadia is a single mother who has struggled to keep her child, and to protect him from family influences as well as any negativity from around them. But does she go too far, all in the name of fighting the system, being a strong independent woman, and getting revenge? How far is too far? Where should she stop?
Elias is a young, talented, successful man who lives in Rome, but is tormented constantly by his memories of Marrakesh, where he stumbled upon love. In his quest to find true love, he is brought back to the reality of his time in Marrakesh. Was it love? Was he under a spell? Did he believe in the spirits and myths that come from the culture and beliefs from around the El-Fnaa square? Will he ever find Malika?
Yaser is a skilled oncologist, a father, a husband but also a lost and very unhappy man. He lives in one of the most exciting and energetic cities in the world, Las Vegas, but loses himself in his very unhappy marriage. He finds himself searching for love in the most unlikely places, but does he get it eventually? How could one cup of coffee change his world so much? Why is he so unhappy? And most importantly, how can he fix it?
I enjoyed reading this book. I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. It addresses the real kind of love. A love that brings people together. A kind of love that requires sacrifice, either for those we love or for ourselves. It reminds the reader that sometimes, even if they do not realize it, music plays a very important role in life. Music brings humans closer as a people across the globe. Music can soothe our soul. Music as deep and moving as Adele’s, can help us get through the normal day to day struggles in this life.
However, this book leaves the reader with more questions than answers. What happened to the characters after? There is no proper conclusion to the book. This book appeals to anyone who is an Adele lover. Its relatable, it’s funny as well as sad, brings tears to your eyes, and takes you on a soul searching journey. Just like Adele’s music, it’s emotional. It appeals to the single independent woman and mother who feels that she can take on the whole world. It appeals to any young man who may have fallen in and out of love a couple of times and is still missing their first love. It appeals to both husband and wife, or anyone else who is in an unhappy relationship, someone struggling to find love where it once was.
The reader is reminded that we all need love in our life, and sometimes we can do anything, just to find that love that fulfills us completely. Many times, we don’t realize that life (and love) are about making sacrifices. This book reminds us of that. It also helps the reader see that nothing is really perfect in this life. You may have a good job, a wonderful family, a big house, a marriage, but is that all? Are you happy? You may have independence, a good job, wonderful friends around you, but is that all? Are you willing to sacrifice all that just for one small thing you feel means a lot to you? You may have a successful career, you may have traveled the world, but is that all? Where can you find love? Where do you go looking for it?
