Have you read The Charioteer?

Post by Marsel »

I haven't found anyone else who has read it so it can't be very well known, but it's the most well-written book I have ever read when it comes to human emotion and behaviour.

If you have read it, would you reccommend anything similar to it? Anything you would put in the same category as this awesome book?

Hey Marsel. What is the book about? My favourite genre of books is historical fiction, in particular Ancient Rome. Just by the name it sounds like something I would like to read.

It's actually set during the second world war, but hasn't much to do with the war. There is simply a lot of reference to ancient Greek philosophy due to the main character's interest. Sorry to disappoint.

By Mary Renault? Yes, years ago.
Also The Last Of The Wine, The King Must Die and The Bull From the Sea.
I enjoyed them all, but after 40 years I can't remember much about them.
