Benjamin Poe finds himself in a confrontation with a demon named Crighton when the soul of his only son, Gabriel, is threatened to be collected. Crighton, a demon dispatched by Lucifer to gather the souls of evildoers for hell, initially convinces Poe of Gabriel's evil nature due to past deeds, including being responsible for the deaths of three people who died during a fire accident. Desperate to protect his son, Poe shoots at the demon, only to realize he has fatally wounded Gabriel instead. Stained with blood, Poe is accused of his son's murder and sentenced to four years in prison after protesting his innocence without evidence. Poe seeks to explain himself to Beaudoin, his counselor, but whether the case will turn in his favor remains uncertain. Meanwhile, Crighton continues his assignment, identifying evildoers with his green, glowing eyes. However, his task is not always smooth sailing, and he faces consequences, including punishment from Lucifer himself.

“Soul Seeker” by Kaylin McFarren is a science fantasy story that introduces otherworldly characters and unfolds in both the spiritual realm of spiritual beings and the physical world of Illinois.

The story thrillingly employs conventionally believed antagonists of the spiritual realm, portraying them with holy intentions, which adds a hilarious twist. I was quickly captivated by the creativity in crafting tension and humor in each character's display. The book also delivers moral impact by presenting evil acts as punishable and capable of devastating consequences, with even Lucifer displaying intolerance toward such actions. Crighton's flaws add a realistic depth to the story, while his encounters with powerful angels, such as Lilith and Rhiannon, create engaging dynamics. The amusing interplay of spiritual beings with rational bases kept me grinning throughout.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because I found no objective reason to dislike anything in it. The book is exceptionally well-edited, as I found no grammar error. Fans of dark fantasies will thoroughly enjoy it, and romance lovers will also find it satisfying.
