Evy Journey spins a riveting love story in Hello, My Love, first of three books in the trilogy between two worlds. This romantic women's fiction is inspired by Jane Austen's writing. It revolves around Elise a student in her final year of law school who gets involved with Greg, a playboy and well off internet business CEO. The two are drawn to each other in spite of Elise being indifferent towards Greg at first.
The story follows the lives of Elise, Greg and their families. Their lives change after the two give in to each other two days before Greg's wedding. Unfortunately they have to go on with their separate lives despite longing to be together. Greg's jilted fiancée unleashes her fury intent on punishing him and keeping them apart. Elise on the other hand becomes an attorney working in the public defender's office. She is forced by circumstances to evolve into an emotionally stable woman in the face of all that transpires.
Evy's writing maintains suspense that keeps you flipping on to the next page. She is able to capture Elise's and Greg's perspective without losing the reader. I found that very appealing. She also depicts the female characters as strong, relatable women without making the story a feminist campaign. The women have their weaknesses but it does not define them. They are over comers who go for what they want. That was refreshing in comparison to the swooning female characters in most romance novels.
The plot makes for a great read with just the right amount of intrigue sprinkled with doses of mystery, surprise and conflict. Dialogue between the characters flows with ease. The author also makes clear descriptions of the characters and everything in general. You can expect some saucy sexual scenes in this love story. Well told without being too explicit.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Hello, My Love. The author was able to encapsulate love, career, family and conflict in this beautifully told tale. My only disappointment was how abruptly the story ended. It did not detract from the story though. I guess it served to maintain the suspense. The book deserved the 4 out of 4 stars rating I gladly gave. If you are looking for a well written love story with great twists and turns, then this is the book for you. I would highly recommend this book to older teenagers and adults who love romantic fiction. Hello, My Love whets the appetite for the other two books in the trilogy.
