Review of Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book
Anything is possible with consistency, passionate training, and a dedicated heart.
These words were yet again ignited by the author of this great self-help book, Kalliope Barlis. This handbook does an amazing job at motivating aspiring golf players to be, as the title says, better and faster. The best way to read this book, as iterated by the author herself, is to read it repeatedly. This is one of those books that teaches something new every time it’s revisited.
There is a recurring emphasis on applying what is written in this handbook rather than simply reading it. Reading this book is especially helpful right before every practice session, as it revokes the advice, which would in turn help the reader achieve the target. The author is a well-reputed golf coach, and this is a great addition to this book as it has an inspiring tone to it that compels the reader to work harder.
The entire handbook is divided into three main parts. The first part of the book is probably the most revisited part of the book, as it evokes a sense of motivation and greatly assists in increasing self-confidence, composure, and assurance in the player. This part of the book fulfills this purpose extremely well, to the point that I would recommend it to not only aspiring golf players but also anyone who is striving for a goal. The author focuses on steady-paced learning and suggests players never rush into the sport but rather learn it step-by-step, which is noteworthy advice for beginners. There are also breathing exercises and other forms of physical workouts that are suggested for the players, which help them relax and set a realistic goal for the practice sessions each day.
Although I’m not a dedicated player myself, this book has definitely motivated me to try my best in any aspect of life that I find passion in. The author also gives us anecdotes of her own journey in learning golf, which adds a sense of reality to the book. It emphasizes that anything is possible if you’ve put your mind to it and worked consistently. Throughout the second and third parts of the book, the author gets into more practical details of playing golf and the physical aspects behind it. She pays attention to detail and tells the player to be aware and in control of everything that is happening. At the end of the book, there are illustrations of various golf terminology and posture recommendations from the coach, which is definitely very helpful for beginners.
Throughout my reading of this book, I was reminded that the author was evidently experienced. Her zeal to spread her knowledge is another motivation that will push the reader towards achieving their goal.
Will all these above discussed opinions in view, I rate this book a solid 5/5.
