Infinity: A Crown of Golden Leaves by Catalina DuBois is a fictional historical romance about Sara, a slave girl in the service of the royal family of Rome. As Sara fights her forbidden desire for her friend, she is met with an unexpected situation that shatters all her future hopes for love. Determined to push down her feelings, she makes a drastic decision that catapults her life on a different trajectory.

The book is an explosion of adventure, thrilling action, and heartwarming friendship and love. The book's plot was my main positive. It included the stories of the side characters, with rich descriptions and vivid imagery, pulling the reader into the lives and actions of royalty gladiators and your average peasant. Readers are given sufficient information on each character, enough to engross the reader in their lives and future, making each part of the story suspenseful and engaging. I enjoyed reading about the chemistry between the couples. It was detailed enough to make you imagine their interaction and the affection they feel for each other. Even the antagonist's story is loveable. Each character was given enough background information to make the reader feel attached to them and understand the reasons for their actions.

One of the things I would consider negative was the length. This was because it ended on a cliffhanger. But even that was simmered down to a slight disappointment mixed with excitement because I discovered the book was part of a series. The other thing was the story of another couple that, unlike the others, felt rushed and short. In the end, their story was concluded in a way that left the reader even more curious about their relationship.

The theme of good versus evil was touched upon throughout the book. It showed some of the character's struggle and effort to get better, eliciting emotions and creating tension for the reader. All this was woven seamlessly into the story. I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars. Its narrative was vivid and filled with suspense, immersing the reader in the storyline.

Although I recommend this book to lovers of historical fiction, I think the genre encompasses more than just that alone. The author mixes adventure, mythology, and action in it. Therefore, I believe lovers of these genres would also love this novel.
