The story starts with a charity event where horses run. Rory Kind, a well-known horse trainer whose horse Mochaman won the race, gets paid for pictures with the horse. Lucien, a guy sent on an assignment by his group, loses all the money he was given on betting and is on a quest to source the misused funds. Lucien ended up killing Rory at his stable and taking his money.

The next day, his granddaughter, who bears the same name as her grandfather, returns to this news and can't believe it was just an accident, as she was told. She convinces the detective Morgan Bailey, and a series of investigations are being carried out, leading to trails and clues to find the murderer. Read this book, Photofinish, by Cheryl Kerr, to discover what happens and if the murderer is caught.

Photofinish is an exciting book that combines mystery and thriller, and these combinations make it stand out to me. I found the story’s flow and switching of timelines to be seamless, as this shows the author has put careful effort into this book. I like that the book gives details about the lives of horse trainers and their horses. I loved the author's choice of words and English, as it broadened my vocabulary; words like chagrined, which means distressed, and many more could help enhance the vocabulary of the reader. I liked the relationship Rory Kind (both grandpa and granddaughter) had with their horses; it showed what nice relationships humans had with animals.

I had a good experience reading this book, and because I had no dislikes about it, I would rate it 5 out of 5 stars. The book has very few errors, which proves it was professionally edited, and I'll recommend the book to thriller lovers and lovers of horses because they'll learn a thing or two from it.
