"NICO" by Marlene Rattigan is a captivating children's book that first drew me in with its vibrant cover and beautiful illustrations. The story centers around Nico, a pet bird with remarkable talents, living with a girl named Kim. Nico delights in entertaining people with his singing, dancing, and talking abilities. When Kim is at school, Nico passes the time by watching birds outside and taking short naps.

However, during the summer holidays, when Kim and her mother spend most of their time outdoors, Nico begins to feel lonely. His spirits dampen, and he stops singing, dancing, and talking. Consequently, Nico becomes thinner and thinner. Noticing Nico's distress, Kim decides to take him along wherever she goes. During one such outing, Nico mistakenly flies to another girl, thinking she is Kim, and boards a train with her. What will become of Nico? Will he find his way back to Kim? You'll need to read the book to discover the outcome.

I absolutely loved "NICO." The book is filled with colorful illustrations that are sure to attract young children and their parents, thanks to the talented illustrator Sergio Drumond. It imparts valuable lessons about properly caring for pets. Additionally, the author provides detailed information about Nico's breed, covering various aspects that will educate children about the bird. This combination of entertainment, moral lessons, and educational content makes the book uniquely appealing.

There is nothing to dislike about this book. I found no errors, indicating that it has been meticulously edited. The book is perfectly suited for children, offering valuable life lessons and information in an engaging way. The illustrations are particularly delightful, helping children to engage with and understand the story with greater excitement.

Overall, I would rate "NICO" a full 5 out of 5 stars for its unique and delightful creation. The combination of engaging storytelling, vibrant illustrations, and valuable lessons makes it an exceptional book for children.
