Review of Island Games
Matthew, the practical one, and Ryan, the goofy one, wake up stranded on a remote island without remembrance of how they got there or any details about their past. Despite their memory loss, they remember their strong bond as close friends. After spending a tense night on a cargo boat, they ventured into the jungle to explore ways to survive and escape. As they investigate their surroundings, they discover mysteries beyond their imagination.
They face daunting obstacles, including attacks from dangerous creatures, struggling to find food and water, and being cut off from the outside world. They soon understand that overcoming these obstacles is crucial to unlocking the island's secrets and finding a way to escape. They quickly learn and rely on each other to survive and navigate the challenges. Their journey becomes a thrilling adventure. Join Matthew and Ryan to discover what propels them. Do they have it in them to escape? Pick up a copy of Island Games: Mystery of the Four Quadrants by Caleb J. Boyer.
The plot unfolds around a relatable friendship between Matthew and Ryan as they confront the mystery of the four quadrants. I love that the author beautifully articulates the need to embrace challenges as integral aspects of life through the plot. He emphasizes the importance of resilience and learning from adversity. He highlights the significance of facing difficulties with composure and a determination to overcome them. This book aspires to instill a sense of empowerment, encouraging individuals to recognize their inner strength and acknowledge that every obstacle is surmountable.
It is admirable how the story portrays the fluctuating nature of human behavior, emphasizing the need for offering and receiving support when navigating life's trials. Furthermore, it beautifully illustrates the uniqueness of each individual and the necessity of openness and adaptability to foster mutual understanding and cooperation. He rightly highlights camaraderie and teamwork. These virtues are essential to problem-solving in familial and communal settings.
The narrative takes the reader on an introspective journey that helps us realize that life's challenges do not define us. What matters is our response to each one of them. The narrative underscores the importance of embracing uncertainty, confronting fears, and cultivating personal growth through the opportunity that every adversity offers and the learnings thereof. I am amazed that a book written by a twelve-year-old author can impart such a profound perspective.
While the book does contain minor errors, they do not significantly detract from its overall quality. I humbly suggest a re-edit to ensure an error-free book. There are no negative aspects to highlight. Considering that the book is entertaining as much as it is insightful, I rate this book five out of five stars.
With an engaging storyline, intriguing twists, and valuable lessons, this book is an excellent choice for preteen and adolescent readers and anyone seeking an enriching literary experience.

It is remarkable that 12-year-old Caleb J. Boyer authored this book. I congratulate this young author for recieving a 5-star review from you. I cannot imagine what it would be like to end up stranded on an island with no memory of my past. Hopefully, I would be resourceful enough to survive this strange place and all of the challenges that came with it. Just thinking about this makes me feel the suspense and adrenaline rush that Matthew and Ryan must have had. Your review of this book has piqued my interest. I will add it to my bookshelves.Seetha E wrote: ↑26 Jul 2024, 03:53 [Following is a volunteer review of "Island Games" by Caleb J. Boyer.]
