Linnea Tanner's Apollo's Raven is a richly imagined historical fantasy that transports readers to the tumultuous world of ancient Britain, where the boundaries between politics and magic blur. Against this backdrop of Roman and Celtic conflict, a forbidden love blossoms between Marcellus, a Roman prisoner with a secret mission, and Princess Catrin, a Druidic priestess with extraordinary abilities. As they strive to overcome the obstacles in their path, Catrin and Marcellus must confront the darker aspects of their world, including the demands of loyalty, the cost of sacrifice, and the enduring power of cultural identity. Join Linnea Tanner on this unforgettable journey—read Apollo's Raven now!

While reading this novel, I found several aspects that aroused my interest. I was interested in the living and way of life of the Iron Age Celts, including their daily routines and customs, as well as the ways in which these differed from the Romans and their militaristic lifestyle, organization, and culture. The Celts had a relatively liberal attitude toward the position of women, or at least to the fact that they were equal to men, in contrast to Rome’s macho culture. I felt a connection to Catrin and Marcellus, who were caught in the midst of their parents' power struggles.

One thing that left me a bit disappointed in Apollo’s Raven was the weak development of the supporting characters. We got some glimpses into their lives, but most of them didn’t leave a lasting impression and felt like background figures. The editing of this book was flawless and contained no grammatical errors. Overall, I’m very impressed and give this book a well-deserved 5 out of 5-star rating.

If you're a fan of fantasy and historical books with a lot of depth, this book is a must-read. Anyone fascinated by the ancient world, particularly the clash of Roman and Celtic cultures during the Roman conquest, will find this narrative absorbing and rich in historical detail.
