Review of The Emotional Alchemy of Healing
The Emotional Alchemy of Healing by Rachel Marie Rabatin is a resourceful guide towards moving forward when challenges confront you. The author explores a tool used in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy known as 'radical acceptance.' Rachel examines the idea behind emotional alchemy and the potential for turning pain into a great strength you can use to find peace. Whether you have lost a loved one, left behind a relationship, or been through a significant change, the wisdom in this book will see you through healing. Drawing from her experiences, the author presents step-by-step guides on how to move forward from pain, grief, memories, and mistakes. Interested? Get a copy of this book.
Walking away from a relationship sometimes means dealing with guilt and regrets. Therefore, learning how to confront the heavy feelings that come with cutting ties is very important. The author emphasizes that positive and negative emotions serve evolutionary functions, guiding us toward behaviors that improve our chances of survival. You will learn how these emotions affect our bodies, and how to process and deal with difficult ones. Interestingly, tears serve special purposes in our lives and can be categorized. Drawing from the wisdom of Marsha Linehan, you will gain insights into the concept of radical acceptance. I will let you explore the ten-step plan for practicing radical acceptance.
Another critical aspect of healing involves dealing with memories and reminders. Within the pages of this book, you will learn how to deal with involuntary and emotional memories. The author emphasizes that grieving is a process characterized by surprise and panic attacks that you must be ready to confront. My favorite topic in this book is about the restorative power of rituals. Marie explains how rituals and routines help in our grieving and healing journey. Interestingly, you can divide your routines into start-of-day routines and end-of-day routines using the tips present in this book. Also, healing involves honoring yourself, the lost ones, and your past relationships. This intriguing concept is left for you to explore on your own.
There are several things I like about this book. First, the author presents her messages as step-by-step guidelines, giving the reader a chance to digest each point thoroughly. Second, the inclusion of reference materials such as websites enhances the book's credibility. Lastly, I appreciate the book's concise nature. There is nothing I dislike about this book to deny it a perfect rating.
The editing team did a good job; I encountered zero errors while reading. I hereby rate this book five out of five stars because of the likes mentioned above. I recommend it to lovers of self-improvement books.
