I was so excited to dive into Toni the Superhero by R.D. Base. From the cover, I was drawn in. I love children's books because of their vibrant colors and subtle lessons, so I was really happy to stumble upon this book. Debbie Hefke deserves credit for these wonderful illustrations.

We follow Toni, a kid who is a superhero but also does ordinary things like everyone else. Toni loves to do everything every other regular person would do, like singing, dancing, cleaning, and anything else. This relatable aspect of Toni's character makes the book engaging for both parents and children. While reading this descriptive picture book, I got some lessons the author was trying to pass. All heroes are regular people who go the extra mile to show up for other people. While Toni was portrayed as a superhero, we saw him doing regular things. This will instill in children that they should not see themselves as more highly than other people. For example, while reading the book, an idea about children who grew up with help around the house popped into my mind. While describing Toni as a superhero or, in this case, a privileged child, we see that he still does things around the house, such as cleaning, dusting, etc.

I had a fun time reading this book. There is nothing to hate about this book. The colors blend rightly and are captivating to look at. There were no typos to hinder the reading experience. Aside from being fun and cheerful, the book also passed essential messages, making it a valuable tool for parents with kids in their formative years. The idea of a superhero would be most acceptable amongst kids since every kid has a superhero they look up to. I loved that Toni was smiling through all the activities; this will encourage kids to see these activities as part of everyday life instead of some difficult chore that needs to be planned before it is done. For all of the positive reasons stated above, I rate this book five out of five stars. It is well deserving of this rating as it contains valuable lessons that can be instilled in children, providing parents with a reassuring and confidence-boosting tool for their child's development.

This book is recommended to parents with kids in their formative years.
