What things SHOULDN'T go together?
Now let's get this straight. I'm not a salad-dodger. Okay, I wouldn't say I was a salad chaser either, but a nicely made combination of cherry tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, radishes, etc, can be very palatable. However, I really wish cafes wouldn't automatically serve salad with jacket potatoes! I'm worry, but IMHO it just doesn't work! You either end up eating it first while your spud goes cold, putting it inside said spud which results in an unpleasant mush, or leaving it altogether with the knowledge that the waiter or person behind the counter will give you THAT look meaning you have been rumbled as both an enemy of healthy food and a WASTER! Of course you can ask in advance not to have it but you don't always remember and it also risks THAT look. Please ask and give us the option!
Now how often (or am I just a deeply sad person living in a parallel universe) have you seen one of those interviews on TV, or an article in a magazine when a person is at home, and on their table (often pine, often with gingham cloth) there is a mug or pot of coffee and a bowl of fruit. Now as my faithful acolytes will know I am something of a coffee addict, and also love fruit, but when was the last time you had an apple or an orange with a cup of coffee? Or am I just lacking in imagination?
I also think that whilst parsley is nice, it doesn't go with as many things as people think. I was once at a hotel where they put it on the scrambled eggs at breakfast.
Well, I have rabbited on enough! Now I would like to hear others' views!

I had a good chuckle over your jacket potato debacle and I agree. I usually end up skipping them all together since most places miss the mark on them.
I can’t say that I have items that shouldn’t go together but rather one that may completely ruin a meal. That culprit is cilantro. The rascally addition is delicious to me so I choose to add it to meals however, since there are many people that cannot stand the taste it poses a risky bet.

My son insists that pineapples have no place on pizza, he’s the only one in the house that won’t do it.briellejee wrote: ↑05 Mar 2018, 10:25 Pineapple and pizza does not go well. Also, have you tried fruits with rice? It shouldn't go well together!!! Fruits with coffee is a big no-no for me.
I make Christmas rice with bits of veg, apples and grapes

I love sardines usually. I cube onion, tomatoes, add grated garlic and cilantro, 2 tsp lemon juice. Everything stirred in the sardines and briefly fried up in a tbsp of olive oil delish !briellejee wrote: ↑08 Mar 2018, 11:27try mixing the sardines with beaten egg!! crush the sardines into mush and mix it with the beaten egg and fry until the egg looks like its cooked! thouhg it may look like mushy and a bit yucky but i swear it tastes good!SparklesonPages wrote: ↑05 Mar 2018, 20:05 I’ve gone for supper at someone’s house and had a ton of slimy, fishy sardines slapped onto my bed of white rice. In all fairness, it’s 3 cups of rice to 1 Apple cubed small and maybe 12 grapes halved.briellejee wrote: ↑08 Mar 2018, 11:24your son's a genius!SparklesonPages wrote: ↑05 Mar 2018, 20:02My son insists that pineapples have no place on pizza, he’s the only one in the house that won’t do it.briellejee wrote: ↑05 Mar 2018, 10:25 Pineapple and pizza does not go well.
