I had big plans to travel when I retired but gave it up after my spouse died because I did not believe it was safe to travel solo. Many of my friends, whom I used to go on walks with and talk to daily, were still working, leaving me with a lot of time with nothing to do or anyone to talk to. If this sounds like you, or if you want to have a more active life during your golden years, read Yay, Retirement!!: Fun Strategies and Practical Advice for Easily Managing the Social, Physical, and Financial Aspects of this Fabulous and Fulfilling Milestone by M. Shelly Ruskin. Reading this book will give you many ideas about living a comfortable and active lifestyle safely and within your budget.

After reading this book, I no longer have excuses not to travel, exercise, or become more active in my community. For example, I gave up bicycle riding years ago because getting on my bike and keeping it balanced became too hard. Did you know that there are bikes made especially for seniors? My research found these bikes are inexpensive, especially compared to stationary exercise bikes. Plus, you enjoy fresh air and nature while riding your bike outside. The author has provided many activity ideas that are free, inexpensive, or provide a source to supplement your retirement income. I particularly like the author's tips for solo travel that make it safe and affordable for seniors. The author's general instructions on playing multiple card games, dice, and board games were appreciated. The author's attention to the physical limitations that many senior citizens have was greatly appreciated. As shown in the book's reference section, the author has researched the many topics discussed throughout the book.

This book provides information on improving your finances and mental and physical health regardless of physical limitations and enhancing your golden years in retirement, which makes it deserving of a perfect score. I did not encounter any negative aspects; there was only one misspelled word in the book. Therefore, I gave this enjoyable, informative, and professionally edited book 5 out of 5 stars.

I recommend this book to senior citizens who find retirement boring and lonely or want something to supplement their retirement income. There are many ways to supplement your income through creativity and the knowledge and wisdom you have gained over your lifetime. Younger readers can also benefit from reading about these.

It sounds like a great resource for retirees looking to stay active, social, and financially secure. The focus on safe solo travel and affordable activities is especially valuable for those hesitant to step out of their comfort zone.
