"Cross Intents: The Baptism" is the second book in Scott Wells' Cross Intents trilogy. The storyline takes place right after Jesus' birth until his baptism. Book 2 tells of the challenges and dangers faced by the young Messiah and his protectors in the unseen world in his early childhood days until he was baptized by John.

The narrative of this book primarily follows the angelic captain Elric and other angels as they protect the infant Jesus from the trip to Egypt through the eventual return to Nazareth. King Herod, who is controlled and manipulated by the demon commander Molech, meets with the three wise men in his palace and plots the death of baby Jesus. The demonic forces, whose mission is to destroy the prophesied savior, do not relent in their efforts to work against God's will. The angels must overcome all their plots and protect Jesus and also John, who has a major role to play in Jesus' ministry on earth.

One of the reasons I like this book is its creative storyline and the way the author skillfully brings the angelic viewpoint to life. I love how this book offers a fresh take on the familiar story every Christian already knows. It's like reading about the Messiah for the first time all over again. The author did a wonderful job of balancing intense spiritual battles with quieter moments of character development. Elric's character is really well-written, and you can feel his strength, bravery, and love for the King (God) even in tough times.

There is nothing I dislike about this book. The author displays a strong understanding of the original material (the Bible) and offers a fictional background story with supernatural presence, making this book's story feel new. I give it a perfect rating of five out of five stars.

This book was expertly edited and doesn't contain any errors. I highly recommend this book to readers who like fresh perspectives on biblical narratives and are open to reading a fictional account of the unseen warfare and divine interventions that took place during Jesus' time on earth.
