The Road to Ezra by Samantha Huffman is a fantasy romance novel. Ezra, a seventeen-year-old, longs to turn eighteen so she can leave her abusive father and receive her wolf. One night, at a party, she meets the handsome Bash Bingham. Despite strong feelings for him and the realization that he is her fated mate, Ezra is terrified of what that means. She also learns he is an Alpha, meaning his mate would be the Luna. How can she find love if she does not love herself? How can she be the mate of the future leader when she cannot even help herself? Did the Goddess make a mistake with their pairing?

Huffman brought the character of Ezra to life through her struggles. Ezra believed her mother had abandoned her, and her father believed she was not enough or worthy of love. He abused her, and her life seemed hopeless. Her only friend, Kit, was a source of escape and hope, as Ezra knew if she made it another year, she could join Kit at university. This would allow her to escape from her father.

I also thought that Ezra's stance on relationships was realistic. She considered herself to be a broken person. In her mind, she could not even take care of herself. While she was attracted to Bash, she was afraid of what that meant. He, being the future Alpha, was set to rule. Being his mate meant she had to rule by his side. Her hesitation at the position lines up well with her view of her self-worth. I appreciated that her character was consistent and had clear motivations for her actions throughout the novel.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. Due to the number of errors in the book, I am taking off a star. Had the book been more thoroughly proofread, there would have been nothing to dislike about this book. The emotional depictions of abuse are sure to tug at any reader's heartstrings. If you enjoy romance and are looking for a heartwrenching novel, check out The Road to Ezra. The ending left me shocked; I will be eagerly awaiting the next book in the series!

It is good to see that another round of editing, the book would earn a perfect rating. I am always an ardent reader of books that have practical applications and life lessons such as the one on friendship. I hope Ezra found healing eventually. Thanks for the review, @Laney K.

A shocking ending?? I love those! I am rooting for Ezra. Hopefully, she will find the inner strength to conquer the trauma of abuse inflicted by her father. I hope the author passes the story through a good round of editing as you suggested. This has the potential to be a 5-star novel.

What makes a better book than one with an interesting ending. I'm definitely going to like this. Thanks for the review.

This is a wonderfully honest review of The Road to Ezra! I appreciate how you highlighted Ezra's compelling character growth and the fresh take on werewolves. While the engaging plot sounds intriguing, your point about the underdeveloped supporting characters like Bash and Kit is a deal-breaker for me. Bad character development is a pet peeve, so I'll be skipping this one. Thanks for the candid insight.
