The dreaded writer's STOP

Post by Iamawriter68 »

I need help on writer's STOP. It's worse than writer's block. I have 100 stories in my head and about 15 unfinished stories written. I want to write but find myself blocked due to fear. Fear my writing won't be good enough, fear no one will want to read an unknown, fear that I won't be able to move the story interestingly along. Just plain fear. Been writing since the age of 12 and at 41 I am still struggling. HELP!!

Yeah I read about writer's stop in one of the books.. Would want to know more about it.. Can't help you because I have never experienced writing. Since you mentioned that you have been writing for a very long time long, so you shouldn't be fearful of it in the first place. Do you think there is any specific reason for you fear? Because that might help you to overcome that reason than to overcome the fear altogether.

You might find it more helpful if you took that attitude that you don't care what other people think. If you didn't care what other people think you probably wouldn't have such a fear that your work won't be good enough. You could always see a hypnotist that could suggest to you not to be so concerned with what other people think. It might be worth a try.

Easy. don't write for THEM, write for you. I just finished my first fully finished novella, and when I got through I was hugely satisfied. I let my husband read it...well, he was creeped out but overall liked it. My mom liked it but said, "I just wish someone else had written it instead of my daughter....". The thing of it is, yes you want to make other people enjoy what you do. But, while you do it, you have to keep them out of your head and just enjoy it for YOU. When you're through, then you can worry about what they will think. :)
