Superhighway is the first book in the Superhighway trilogy written by Alex Fayman and is categorized under the science fiction genre. The protagonist of this lovely book goes by the name Alexander Fine. The storyline is narrated throughout his life right from when he was a young boy whose parents had died. He, therefore, has to spend the rest of his life in an orphanage situated in Los Angeles, California. The story begins to take shape when Alex is eighteen years old. Alex discovers that he has a special gift. He unleashes this gift accidentally when he realizes that he can travel through the internet.
Alex is very enthusiastic about this gift and wants to know what this talent can bring to his life. It is later seen that he can travel to any internet database at whatever point in the world. He is even able to get access to databases containing online bank accounts and military information. Alex was philanthropic hence he usually hacked the money present in online banks owned by criminal groups and distributed it to the less fortunate people in the society. However, having no knowledge of how the banks operate, Alex leaves back a trace that the criminals use later to track him.
Written in first person narration, the story feels more lively and engaging. This is a story that one never wishes to put down once they start reading. The plot of the story was written with great composure and flows smoothly from chapter to chapter. The writer describes the details in this book in such a way that it enables the reader to get the real picture of what is actually happening through imagination. It is for this reason that I think the book can really make a great and thrilling movie that will capture the interest of a big audience.
The main theme of this book is navigation through the worldwide web. This is quite a thought-provoking idea that will intrigue anyone interested in computers and networking. This is a topic that will keep you wanting to know how and when does Alex actually travel through the web. These are questions that are answered in details as the story moves along. Alex also being a teenager, he does most of his things in a manner that most of the teenagers can identify with. The writer depicts Alex as a normal human being since he falls in love and at some point, he gets betrayed.
The book was easy to comprehend and I never came across any grammatical errors. I, therefore, with no doubt give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars as I had no hard time in understanding its content. This is a book that I would recommend to young adults who are fond of science fiction and technology stories. I am also looking forward to reading the next books in this trilogy as this first one proved to be very intriguing.
