Marian Keyes Author/Activist

Post by Highlights »

Have you read This Charming Man ?
Less intense is Anybody Out There.
Although she has many others.
Have you read any?
Do you have a favorite?
Last I read on her fan page she is not writing because she is depressed. She has a history of this and substance abuse, but would you guess that from her writing?
Have you ever had to grieve the hope of more books to come?

Love Marian Keyes, of her books I have read (and own most):
Anybody Out There
Watermelon
Rachel's Holiday
Angels
Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married
Sushi for Beginners
Last Chance Saloon
Brightest Star in the Sky
This Charming Man

I've read her webpage too about her depression and not writing at the moment, and I keep checking every now and then in the hopes she's back!! I definitely wish her all the very best!!

But back to the subject at hand, my fave... that's hard to think, been a while since I read some of the earlier ones, I pretty much liked them all!! One that sticks out in my mind are: 'Anybody Out There' which was the first of hers I read, and I was hooked then and there!!

The last two books of hers I read, 'This Charming Man' and 'Brightest Star in the Sky', I did feel were heavier and darker somehow, and did start to wonder about it (the darkness)... so I wasn't totally surprised when I read about her depression because I felt that in the last two books. Maybe I'm just a nutter, but yeah.

i love Marian Keyes ive read and own all of her books but my favorite has to be this charming man, i like the twists in it and i love the comedy even though the book is about a sensitive subject.

im really sorry to hear about her depression and that she isnt writing anything more due to this at the moment, lets hope she gets better soon and writes something new.

Her books are not my cup of tea but I've seen her interviewed and I was amazed to hear she suffered from depression ... but I guess that says more about me & my preconceptions on the disease. I do hope she recovers & gets back to writing though.
