The Left Hand of God by Paul Hoffman

Post by Vogin »

Not that I just finished reading it (finished it couple a months ago), but I'd like to strongly recommend the first book of this trilogy - Hoffman created a vast world with complex characters, not unlike the worlds of LOTR or Narnia. IMHO a must-read for any fantasy fans.

Hey Vogin, I've read this, and did enjoy it. I have, however, read loads of bad reviews of it. I think we should reserve judgement on this trilogy until we've had all three parts. A bit unfair to judge the book in isolation. At the end of the day I don't think this book is a classic, but its well written and entertaining enough. I do want to read more, which is high praise indeed from me because I don't really go in for the 'fantasy' genre.

I'm actually creating a Wikipedia article about it (as a part of a school project), would you be open to check out & criticize the article I'll come up with?

As for the bad reviews, yes, I've also seen a lot of them while doing research for the article. I found especially the comments about the small gravel-stone retrieved from Picarbo ridiculous, because why the hell would I criticize something that's incomplete?
