Heartaches 2 is a romance novel by H M Irwing. It is Book 2 of the Bad Boy Vibes Series. The protagonists of the book Rafael Brown and Anna have been the victims of sexual assault. Eric Dayton, Rafe's ex-lover assaulted and abused him. On the other hand, the Preston family raped Anna. Let me note here that, the younger son of the Preston family, Matt Preston was Anna's boyfriend. Rafe and Anna made a good couple fighting against all their weaknesses together. Many mysteries unfold along the way. They find out a secret about Rafe which creates distance between them. Rafe moves away from Anna for her safety. But within a short time, they get back together to fight the difficulties.
I loved the entire plot of the book. The story was captivating, and the characters were relatable. Sometimes I felt that the story took place before my eyes, it felt that real. Rafe and Anna's love was extraordinary. Even though Rafe was the victim of sexual assault, Anna never made him feel weak. She always felt protected in his presence. The author used a lot of intense and deep words which just kept me connected to the story. The author excellently used the words. The evil traits of the Preston family and Eric Dayton were well-portrayed. My favorite sentence from the book was- ''Fate was like that. It kept on throwing sucker punches at her where it hurt most, but there would come a time when she had to stop dodging the blows and simply lie there, taking it.'' This sentence appears to be a clear-cut definition of Anna's life.
Some characters felt sudden and unrelatable. I couldn't relate to the roles of Suzi and David. But still, the author could maintain the storyline until the end. Another thing I didn't understand was the way the mystery about Rafe's father unfolds. And why did his Aunt agree to marry his father? How did she fall in love with Rafe's father? Maybe those concepts were not clearly explained because the story mainly surrounds Rafe, Anna, and their terrible pasts.
I noticed two grammatical errors in the book. The first one was in the sentence- ''But then the skies had rapidly cleared as it was inexplicably wont to do in this intermittent season between winter and summer.'' I think that the word should be 'want' instead of 'wont'. The second one was- If Dan really were there for him. There should be 'was' instead of 'were'.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The grammatical errors were not at all distracting. A lot of marvelous words were used which kept me connected to the book by an invisible illusory binding. I would recommend this book to all romance lovers. This book can be a great gift to the person you love. It would help to create love, support, understanding, and trust between lovers.
