Writing Style
Always use the most appropriate words to convey your message. Don’t burden yourself with trying to find the correct words. They will come in the re-reading of your writing. You’ll be amazed how a story reads one day, and then the next, you say to yourself: Hey, this feels better if I do this. And the chapters will grow and the story will grow.
Just remember, writing a story is a variant of formal writing. You want to write well. But you can use contractions such as I’m instead of I am. Feel free to use all contractions as well as formal words throughout the story.

The Story
Readability and story flow is highly important. As time goes on, your biggest issues will be things like contradictions and time lines and context. Don’t leave readers wondering ‘what happened to so and so’ or ‘what became of this’ or ‘how could this be?’
Editors come into play at this point. But give them something to edit, not trash.

The Dialogue
Dialogue is about conversation. Don’t do this, but here is a good guideline. Imagine recording a conversation with your friend or friends. You’re standing around talking about what you did over the weekend. Then take the recording and write word for word the conversation. You will have words like sorta, coulda, ain’t, gotcha, etc.
Dialogue is not about formal writing. It’s about real life responses (even in fiction). How would someone truly react to (whatever situation you define)?

All this is a humble opinion of my own. I have received a lot of positive feedback concerning my own story. But at least you’re lucky. You just want to write well in English. I’m trying to master writing well in Early Modern English. Good luck to us both, huh?

Hmm...the person above me wrote pretty much all...

I was taught this way.

Consider these...
Purpose of writing
Audience of writing
Our subject we are writing about

These three points determine the way we organise our writing and the words we choose to express them with.

Make your point and support it.
And narrow your objective like if its a fiction or nonfiction.

You can't really digest what the people have said without examples. So I suggest you read a writing self-help book, one that has workshops.

^Oh, I agree with that!

~Try to write from experience. If you have no experience, it's best to gain knowledge from books, media, internet etc.
~Scotta.clark is right. If it was e.g an autobiography, camp book, reflection, diary entry etc, it would be a good idea to show personality. Who you are as a person and what you actually thought about the subject.

Agreed with CJ Schneider..

You can go study English for better vocabulary, pronunciation and writing. Just be yourself as always.
